Dubai Sports Council Youth Basketball Championship – Season 2


Championship Rules & Regulations

The Dubai Sports Council Youth Basketball Championship 2019 is an event organized by Jam Sports Club under the patronage of the Dubai Sports Council. More than 400 players from all nationalities will be participating. This event promotes sportsmanship and high competition in a friendly and civilized way.

Team Rosters
  1. Eligible age groups:
    • U8 Mix (2011-2012)
    • U10 Mix (2009-2010)
    • U12 Mix (2007-2008)
    • U14 Boys (2005-2006)
    • U16 Boys & Girls (2003-2004)
  2. Team roster is limited to:
    • Minibasket (U8, U10 and U12) minimum 10 players and maximum 15.
    • Basketball (U14 and U16) minimum 8 players and maximum 15.
  3. All the names of the players have to be submitted to the organizers one day prior to the first match of the Championship. Adding players after submitting the list is not allowed under any circumstances.
  4. Each player has the right to play in the same team with one or more age categories. But he is not allowed to play in another team.
  5. A team will be disqualified if it uses an ineligible player that is not on the roster.
  6. All teams must wear a consistent uniform numbered basketball jersey during their games. Basketball shoes must be worn.
  7. All coaches are responsible for having legal IDs and for submitting the consent form signed by the parents along with a copy of the ID before the first game.
  8. The schedule of the games once agreed and published cannot be changed under any circumstances
  9. The team coaches are entirely responsible to make sure that their players fully understand Championship rules and regulations.
  10. The Championship Committee makes all final decisions concerning all grievances; i.e. protests, eligibility, etc.
Playing Rules – Minibasket (U8 Mix – U10 Mix – U12 Mix)
  1. Game Clock: the game is consisting of 4 quarters each one is for 10 mints. The clock will stop on all fouls and violations. 10 minutes will be given to warm up.

  3. Boys and Girls can play in the same team.
  4. Minimum 10 and maximum 12 players must be registered on the score sheet.
  5. There will be no 24 seconds shot clock.
  6. There will be no 8 seconds violation to pass half court.
  7. There will be 3 seconds violation under the basket applies.
  8. Zone violation applies cannot cross the midline court.
  9. Screening is allowed
  10. Zone defense or zone press playing are not allowed. Any coach who tries to allow zone defense, will receive 1 st technical and 2 nd technical, the team will loose 20 – 0 and his team will get 0 points.
  11. Double teams are not allowed.
  12. The 3 points shots will be counted as 2 points.
  13. When a foul occurs during the shoot, if the player scored, there will be no free throw shots and the score will be counted as 2 points.
  14. Each team will have 10 players the 1 st three quarters. The last quarter any 5 players can play.
  15. If a player receives 5 fouls or any injury, the coach of the other team will chose his/her replacement.

Playing Rules – Basketball (U14 – U16)

  1. Game Clock: the game is consisting of 4 quarters each one is for 10 mints. The clock will stop on all fouls and violations. 10 minutes will be given to warm up.
  2. Grace Period: A 15 minutes grace period will be allowed for tardiness and then if a team does not have 5 players to start the game, the team will lose the game.
  3. The team will be held responsible for their fans’ negative comments or actions towards the officials and committee members.
  4. Team captains/managers are the voice of their team and are responsible for their team’s conduct.
  5. The ball sizes are:
    • U14 Boys size 6.
    • U16 Girls Size 6
    • U16 Boys size 7.
  1. All participants, coaches and fans shall refrain from using profanity or verbal abuse towards other players, coaches, fans, referees and the Championship staff.
  2. The Championship Manager and the Championship staff are not responsible for any personal items that are left behind, lost or stolen.
  3. Destruction or damage of AFLEC School property will be severely punished by proper authorities. The player and team will pay for damages and will automatically be eliminated from the Championship.
  4. INSURANCE / INJURIES: The Championship sponsor and organizers carry no insurance for players, fans or game officials. The Emergency Medical Service will be called for all medical emergencies unless waived by such person. Individuals are responsible for all charges.
  5. Fighting is an attempt to strike an opponent with the arms, hands, legs, feet or a combative action by one or more players, coach or other team personnel, check out injection molding definition. Any member or team personnel who participants in a fight shall be immediately suspended from the game for the duration to be determined by the Championship Committee.
  6. Should any team, player(s) or coach be disqualified from Championship play, there will be no refunds.
Entry Fee and Rewards
  1. The entry fees (AED 2400) deadline is due before the first game. Cash, Cheque and transfers will be accepted. Entry fees are non-refundable.
  2. The first-place will have trophy and medals, second place trophy and medals and third place trophy and medals for each category.
  3. Player of the game award will be given to the outstanding player chosen by the Championship Committee after reviewing the statistics and the attitude/behavior of the player.
  4. All participants will receive a certificate.
  5. The awards will be:
    • MVP.
    • Best rebound.
    • Best assist.
    • Best scorer.
    • Best steal.
    • Best spirit.
Media Waiver

Some games will be broadcasted live thru Jam Academy Social Media and pictures of the games will be shared, names of the players will be displayed thru social media, press, TV etc.., should you have any objection or any concerns please inform the Championship Manager in advance.

I hereby confirm that:

1. All the above information are accurate and true

2. Have the consent of the guardian of the player

3. Have completed health check on the player which proves he is perfectly fit and healthy to participate in this championship
